Having just had a quick squint at used market asking prices, there seems to be a big premium for low mileage cars which I guess reflects their relative scarcity. That’s where the £12k ed30 valuation is coming from, on sub 40k mile cars, whereas the more typical 100-120k milers are @£7k +/- 10%.

Very true HJJKO. However, I don't think you'll find anyone on here who knows these cars will pay £12k though for an 108k car, even with impeccable history & care. You've valued your car about £4k over what any enthusiast would pay.

If he ends up with a car he'll be more than happy with at a price he's cool with..thats not ripping him off. Its just a deal

A lot of deleted posts here! £12k for a 108k white DSG is not the market value, & it's not a 'deal'.

Thanks for all the replies,

Ive bought a white 3dr ED30 for £9500 with 86k and 2 owners on the car.

Thanks for the offer HJJKO but ill be honest, at that sort of mileage id have been looking at around 8k but I appreciate the offer. No ED30 is worth 12k in this day and age unless its got minimal miles on it imo.

I think we can all agree that values are on the up, which is a good thing for those who have kept the faith.

Would completely agree with that. It's the main reason ive got back into one now. Whilst its not going to be worth a fortune, I feel a well kept example could be a half decent car to not loose a huge amount on.

I don’t think you’ll lose money Peter, provided you keep it well maintained and not rake up too many miles.  They’re nice cars to drive, cheap to run and as VW continues to churn out uglier and more expensive new iterations there should continue to be a decent market for mk5’s. I’ve owned mine since new and have no plans to get rid of it.

Sounds like you found a good one Peter, out of interest was it a manual or dsg?
