Engine/exhaust warning light.....
« on: March 18, 2010, 04:34:25 pm »
has come on this afternoon  :scared:

Would the faulty Pcv cause this light to come on???

New Pcv arrives tommorow, so if this is caused the light to come on, will it go out when the new valve is fitted?? or is it a dealer then has to remove fault history to get light to go back out.

and most importantly, should i be driving the car if this light is lit???

Thanx chaps for any help

 :happy2:

I had the same light come a a couple of weeks ago - dealer said it could be anything in the engine that triggered it from the MAP sensor to the exhaust  - not very helpful I know but sharing what I was told.
Incidently, while I was getting my WALK fitted, some guy with VAG-COM removed the fault before I could take it to the dealers thinking he was doing me a favour  :fighting:

Don't worry about it Steve. If (as I suspect) it is linked to the faulty PCV or disconnection of the MAF/Airbox then it will be okay to run as normal and just get it checked out when you can via VCDS/VAG-COM and get the error code removed. :happy2:

what was the error code that has been produced as a result of the fault, assuming you have had this on VAGCOM. I had a similar problem a few months back and I had to have a new cat fitted. under warranty thank god

Steve hasn't got direct access to VCDS Daz.

I hope it isn't his cat as he's just got a Milly downpipe fitted a while back!

Theres a fault code reader built into the bf handset, takes about 30seconds to give the fault code :happy2:

He has stage 2 and that doesn't bring the light on in my experience

Steve,

Missed you call, sorry mate.  I think as Hurdy says it will be linked to the leaking PCV.  Perhaps ask your friendly dealer to download the code and see what that brings up.

The erratic idle is also a pointer to this.

My handset reads faults and has never been enabled  by sc

Plug in, press no rather than following usual process, read faults, then clear them...
