Hard braking... pedal goes briefly to the floor
« on: March 25, 2021, 04:59:36 pm »
It is the second GTI Edition 30 that has the same symptoms, years apart. At the racetrack, during a track day event, under hard braking sometimes I feel that the pedal goes suddenly all the way to the floor. The car is still braking even during that brief moment but it is really worrying to feel this during a high speed braking zone.
Does anyone have any idea what is wrong? I know how boiling brake fluid feels and it is not that. It feels like a leak in the master cylinder. Any piece of advice is gold

Sounds like the rubber hoses are getting hot and expanding with the track driving, meaning the fluid pressure is not reaching the caliper and being lost in the hose expansion.....Maybe invest in some braided hoses all round before the hoses go pop!

The previous Edition 30 that I had a few years ago I had HEL lines in the front. But this is a valid point. I'll get braided lines all around this time
