GFB boost tap question
« on: June 20, 2021, 10:36:15 pm »
Anyone used the GFB boost tap  (I'm fitting a boost gauge) on a mk5 TFSI? I've ordered one but was thinking how does it actually secure in the manifold, looks like a pair of o-rings. My car has a BSH PCV delete so the pipe isn't there to go on the end of the boost tap.I don't want the thing flying out the first time it comes on boost!

It fits on the end of the inlet manifold there is a slot cut out on the boost tap that when pushed on turn it until it slots in place on the inlet manifold secured. If your running a pcv delete I think I've seen one blanked off on the end where the pipe would go to the breather, hope that makes sense.

Yes, mine is blocked off with a plastic cap where the pipe from pcv would usually go.  :happy2:

I would recommend this stepper motor gauge tapped into one of the blanked off holes in the intake manifold.  Matches the blue/red OEM lighting and way more accurate/quicker responding than a long vac line fed to a mechanical gauge.  I used this one on my VR6 Turbo and the peak boost recall button was a nice touch.
