2009 Scirocco 2.0 TDI once in a blue moon I get a beep and ESP fault on centre dash. Only does it on initial start up over night like I say very random. No ESP/ABS lights stay on when it does it. No fault codes (checked on VCDS and OBD eleven. Weird one. Any ideas?

Since the weather has changed car has also been struggling on cranking especially if i've not driven the car for a day, so I've fitted new battery, hopefully that will stop the ESP warning! Yuasa 096 from Halfords £109.99 FFS!

TBF - Halford do a good warranty on their battery ....just don't loose the receipt

So,went to Cadwell park on Sunday to watch the racing, it was a wash out and car parks were water logged! When I went to leave got stuck on the wet grass and tried turning ESP off to help traction. No beuno! No matter what I did with the button it wouldn't turn off.

Had a look on eBay for a button and it was a minefield, from a Chineseum special for £8.95 to  Lithuanian seller advertising them for over £60! So I went to local VW dealer Crowsons of Spalding and got a genuine VW one for £35. The design has been replaced to one with a skidding car rather than the ESP OFF text, replaced in 2011.

MOT today, passed but had advisories for 3 tyres , rear brake pads low and an inner cv joint gaiter deteriorated.
Went and got a pair of tyres on the way home (Falken) ordered rear tyres for tomorrow and may have got caught speeding for good measure! Bugger!  :congrats:

Got a few bits to do on the annual service on the car. Had advisories on the MOT for rear pads low, and os inner CV gaiter deteriorated. Also advisories for 3 tyres. Had a set of Falken FK520 fitted.
Going to fit rear discs as old ones are lipped and corroded.
Gone for cheapy Apec (£45 for discs and pads!) . Got a ball joints kit for when fitting the driveshaft gaiter as the 3 studs have a habit of snapping.

Noice  :happy2:  I have a similar pile of stuff awaiting fitment to the ol' Bimmer.

Our MK6 TDI also had an MOT advisory on a failing CV boot, and one of the console bushes has gone.  Luckily I kept a load of parts back from my ED30, so had all that and more in stock ready to go on   Still going like a trooper that thing  :happy2:  Very reliable and fun car.

Been and seen my mate who's Dad's got a ramp today to get the above bits fitted, everything went ok apart from one of the rear calipers was tight to wind in.

Left there and no sooner got to 20mph or so and the ABS/TCS lights came on. Went back and had a look on OBDeleven and the left rear ABS sensor showing mechanical malfunction. We wipped the rear disc off and could see the ABS ring part of it flapping about. Rear hub needed! Bloody cars.   :fighting2:

We had to undo the disc screw with hammer and punch so I think a bit of rust off the back of the disc has got in the gap of the rear hub and caused the failure on the ABS ring....
