***update*** Dashboard warning lights?

Hi all,
This has happened on a few occasions now, just wondering what it's trying to tell me

The lights stay on fir a little bit and then go off?

Mine has been doing that since tweaking the wiring to the ABS sensor - I was pulling myself up from under the engine, grabbed onto what I thought was the caliper but missed, pulling on the cable.
It was coming up all the time, but seems to have settled itself down - last time it came up was a month ago from wheel spinning/axle hop.

Hmmm 

Last thing I remember doing was using the jetwash at work to clean my wheels.  I'll see how it goes for now and hope they don't stay longer

We had exactly that set of lights, turned out to be the battery was past its best. Replaced it and it’s cleared the issue

Replaced the battery, it still had the original !

We had been getting frequent dashboard lights at startup (PowerSteering, ESP, Tyre Pressure) that would go away after a few minutes. Had it checked but no fault codes, mentioned that the electric windows were a bit slow to respond and he also noticed the ignition sounded sightly laboured, checked under the hood and advised that it was worth changing the battery as that could be the source of the issues.

Stuck with Varta as the original had been so good, got a slightly higher spec replacement for £81 delivered.

i'll keep a close eye on things, cold weather is around the corner so i'd rather replace it sooner rather than later..

just a quick update.. the lights are constantly on now  , but ive got no other issues like longer cranking or windows slowing down etc ? and no faults logged

You will not know the exact cause until you get it scanned, but it is likely to be either a wheel bearing or abs sensor fault.

As I mentioned above, we didn’t have any fault codes either. The other two symptoms were almost imperceptible, the window button would be deactivated for maybe a couple of seconds after ignition but after that would work like normal.

That may not happen with yours , but it’s worth checking the battery age, if it’s old/the original then it’s worth changing as it’s fairly low cost and it fixed it for us…was pretty relieved the mechanic spotted it as I couldn’t find anything from Googling the issue.

well chaps !!!   ive been driving the car with them dash lights on for a few days and thought nothing much of it..   i had 4 days off and must have used the car once..  woke up for work this morning and.......   car is dead  , even the doors wouldnt open with the fob..   so it looks like i have to buy a new battery today

Lol mate..   thanks for all the input..    i'll be leaving work early today, straight to Euro's for a new battery.  if all the warning lights go off after the new battery then thats a bonus, if not....   i'll get her booked in for a scan and new sensors/wheel bearings..

Interesting - before getting replacement just check the voltage on the old battery, should be around 12.5v.

Mine would play dead with a brand new battery, sometimes completely dead, other times it would pop the doors but then not start - acted like a dead battery, it would even loose window memory - disconnecting and reconnecting the battery would usually bring it back to life.

Eventually found it was terminal 15 relay under the steering column gone bad, I have not had any issues since.

ohhh !!  that is interesting,  unfortunately i dont have any means of measuring the battery voltage  ,  so i might just pop home 1st and disconnect the battery and connect back again to see if anything happens,   i'll also check that relay
