Drove past two Shell stations this morning and one had diesel up at £187.9 and the other had it up for £179.9.  Pardon my French, but rural Shell stations are utter greedy c'nts.

It's hovering around £1.67 in town.  V-Power petrol is hovering around £1.73.

Looking at historic petrol prices, unleaded was £1.40 in 2012.......so a 20-30p hike over 10 years really isn't that bad?

It will defo go past £2 litre at some point during the Ukraine/Russia conflict.

bp ultimate 97 £1.59 in coleraine northern ireland,
suprised at shell being so expensive after just buying up a fortune of oil from russia at over 70% cheaper than a week ago, their argument was they needed it to supply their customers, when clearly it was just to make 3x the profit

They were fun cars back in the day!

400 miles covered this week so far in the TDI and still two thirds of a tank left.  I'm struggling for reasons to keep my ED30 at the moment.  That needs refilling every 3-4 days.

Wow that's impressive. What year/engine is it?

I'm considering getting a diesel as a second car something like the old PD130 engine but anything less than a grand now is falling to bits.

2009 MK6, with the 140hp flavour 2.0 CR engine.  Nice solid car and very frugal.  Obviously not as fun as the GTI but at the moment, double the mpg is more appealing!

And the other thing worth considering is 2nd hand car prices… You’d easily get £7k for yours at the minute….

Then use it to buy a 306DTurbo!
One of those in the ice blue they did was my dream car when I was 16, I was adamant I was going to get one as my first car. But I ended up with a Vauxhall Nova instead.
Getting too old for this...

Really? Blimey. Not so sure my very tired 165K miler would fetch anywhere near that unfortunately

Back in 1994, my employer had a fleet 306 D Turbos, and compared to the MK2 GTI I had at the time, it was epic.  Not quite as quick but handled waaaaaaay better.  I remember the Nova SR fondly, and the Fiesta XR2, XR3i etc etc.   Although everything is S3 this, RS3 that, A45 AMG etc etc now, waaaaaaay better cars, they just feel like generic products rolled out of a mega factory, which are unattainable for most people as a cash purchase.  There was something much more fun about picking up a beater of an XR2 and hustling it down a back road at 3 in the morning, not caring if you crash it or not
