Yes, but it’s a roller follower, not a bucket tappet.

Yeah you're safe there.  VW clearly saw the error of their ways with a tappet on the older engines!

A few things to keep an eye on MK7s though:

The infamous water pump failure.  It's a £1000 job.  I'm not sure if newer MK7.5s improved that situation but keep some cash aside just in case!
Carbon build up seems to be worse on MK7s for some reason.
Watch out for blue smoke on hard corners if you ever track the car. It's a PCV design weakness. Shouldn't happen on the road though.
MK7 HPFPs are more prone to failure than MK5s, so watch out for a rising oil level that stinks of petrol.

thanks for the heads up after a quick search it seems there are some hpfp failures on mk7s but couldnt find any on the 7.5s
but the pcv i know can sometimes cause a bit of smoke because ive seen this happen myself, dont know if there is a resolution for this if it only happens if faulty or if its just a design flaw.  ive seen none on mine and ive had it at the tyres limits so maybe mines ok. brakes are poor when pressing on,
my mk5 gti has been up for sale for a few days now but no calls, if i could get that sold i would have funds to sort a few things
