traction control light
« on: November 15, 2022, 05:56:18 pm »
So once again the car has failed its MOT. All to do with the Traction control light not going out on the dashboard. there were two lights on originally. the steering wheel light and the car on the wiggly road. Doing the steering wheel to the left and then to the right made the steering wheel light go out but not the car icon. ODB11 throws up a Steering angle sensor error.'mechanical malfunction. fault code 00778

http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/VW_Golf_(1K)_Steering_Assist#Sensor_for_Steering_Angle_.28G85.29

This explains in full detail about the basic settings you maybe able to do it on OBD11, but the ross tech page is for VCDS ideally

You want to be making sure you have 4 equal wheel speeds, it won't initialize the angle sensor until you do a short drive in a straight line and it is important the wheel speeds match. 1kph difference in the values won't be an issue, but if you've a bad exciter ring on the bearing it will fluctuate too much.

Check measuring blocks 1 in ABS.
