How to/tips for changing the DV on a K03
« on: November 29, 2022, 10:46:31 pm »
If there's time will try and do this tomorrow.
Any guides about for a K03 or what do I need to do, last changed by Rtech .
Will be on a drive with a trolley jack/stands!

Cheers.

Honestly not too difficult, I did it with trolley jack last winter in pitch black with phone torch and pouring down rain, took about 20/30mins. I just watched a couple YouTube videos. Literally 3 bolts 5mm Allen bolts and it’s off if I remember rightly

As above It's relatively easy, just sometimes fiddly getting to the bolts holding it on. Trick is to get your head behind the wheel hub as you do it that way you can see and reach all the bolts quite easily.

You don’t even need to remove the wheel arch liner. You should be able to do it based on what you can see/feel. Just make sure the hex head is in securely before you start trying to loosen and ideally replace with new bolts.

Yep. I left the wheel on and just can just reach up.

You can just do it by feel once you've had a look at the three bolts to remove.

Oh well, my mate tried but couldn't get to one of the bolts so it's still on there lol.
Maybe take it to somewhere that's got a hiost!

I took the wheel off, makes it much easier as you don't need to raise the car as much, so have better reach.

Emphasis on replacing with new bolts - when I was replacing mine the bolts were already damaged from a previous dodgy replacement and I ended up stripping one of them completely, requiring a welder to get it off  :scared:

I did mine recently on the driveway, using drive on ramps. Didn't take the wheel or liner off. It was manageable but needed just an extra half a foot in height to be comfortably be able to work.

No issues with the access to the part the top bolt you have to work a bit blind I used a 5mm 1/4" hex bit on an 50mm extension, was just the right length. when refitting I hand started 2 to snug to hold the DV in place before fitting the 3rd then tightening.

My bolts looked quite new still as my DV was a Rev G but still failed. Still had threadlock on them and seem okay so far.

Tip for getting the connector off is to push it in whilst pushing the tab down to then get it off.
