Mk5 GTI Engine rattle

Hi all
Noticed a loud rattling/tapping noise in my mk5 GTI on cold starts - lasts about 1 min and then disappears once the revs drop.
Has anyone had this or know what it could be? The car is on 100k and camchain hasnt been replaced.

I think you answered the question yourself.
The first thing to my mind would be the small cam chain and tensioner.

It could be cam phaser rattle from either a slack chain or busted oil control rings inside said phaser, or it could be tired tappets.
1 minute is excessive though. The rattle should only last 5 seconds, tops. How old is the oil?
