I was hoping they would have shown the final 3 letters of the part number, usually starts with a Z e.g. Z8Q or something.

Thanks for the help though  :happy2:

Probably far too late but today I eventually took pics of the door controllers (in my sig), the controllers I have are Z5T (nearside) and Z73 (offside)
Used to have Edition 30 - number 009 and a GT TDI 140.
Now have an S4 B8 Avant (stage 2)

Gen 3 5dr controllers will work on a 3dr has they are run by Lin bus which run through the central convenience module, just tick the box in central convenience for rear doors via Lin Bus

The above also needs a single wire running from each back door to the central convenience for the Lin Bus. Probably not even worth it over getting some dedicated 5dr modules.

Has for the Gen 3 wiring I am sure the only wires that needed changing where for the central locking has the power to them was in the wrong place.

Puddle lights work on my m module, coded them in and trial fitted them

Joe,
Am I right in thinking that you have fitted the folding/puddle light mirrors to your car using the M (min) module?
Meaning you have puddle lights but no folding?

The reason I ask is that I have bought folding/puddle light Mirrors but Eddie NL has just advised me that I need new controllers.........and then I saw the price of them :fighting2:.
I only started this mod for the puddle lights so if they work off the M module, I might just settle for that.

Hi Matt, yep you are correct! Mine are the basic M min controllers. I saw the price of them too and it doesnt help there are thousands of superseeds (spelling) of the same single variation

I would try to code your current module, as some people say the M controller didnt work for them

Sorry to drag up a very old thread. Iv finally got round to fitting the door controllers that enable folding. Can anyone help?

My car = 2008 / 58. Had Min controllers that supported puddle lights but no folding.

New controllers:

Address 42: Door Elect, Driver        Labels: 1K0-959-701-MAX3.lbl
   Part No SW: 1T0 959 701 G    HW: 1K0 959 793 M
   Component: J386  TUER-SG FT    1126
   Revision: 31008001    Serial number: 00000536078113
   Coding: 0000630
   Shop #: WSC 00787 210 95039

Address 52: Door Elect, Pass.        Labels: None
   Part No SW: 5K0 959 702 A    HW: 5K0 959 702 A
   Component: Tuer-SG         009 2114
   Coding: 0004982
   Shop #: WSC 00152 210 91233

As you can see, the pass side is coded to 4982 or can be dropped down to 4726 (not fitted the drop down mirror motor yet). The controllers must be seat ones

However the drivers side doesn't accept the coding for folding, or anything much above what it is now.

In reality

Drivers side = Power fold works off the internal switch, Puddle works if folded or not, the mirror itself is all backwards when controlled from the internal switch (left is down, right is up, up is right, down is left) Mirror folds off the key fob, auto window open and close has stopped working (think iv sorted that off an r32oc link http://www.r32oc.com/topic/44240-fold-mirrors-with-from-key-with-auto-closure/).

Passenger side = Power fold works off the internal switch, Puddle works if folded out but turns off when folded in, mirror control is fine when controlled from the internal switch, Mirror folds off the key fob, auto window is fine.

Im also now getting:

Address 46: Central Conv.        Labels: 1K0-959-433-MIN.clb
   Part No: 1K0 959 433 AJ
   Component:    KSG              0401
   Coding: 19F802487F2D840F481AC69010CC
   Shop #: WSC 12345 785 00200

2 Faults Found:
01331 - Door Control Module; Driver Side (J386)
            004 - No Signal/Communication - Intermittent
01332 - Door Control Module; Passenger Side (J387)
            004 - No Signal/Communication - Intermittent

My 2 main issues are:

1. The backwards and weird control of the drivers mirror.
2. Why the passenger puddle light turns off when its folded in.

Any ideas? Im stumped so thinking i might just go back to my old motors and just fold my mirrors manually each time i go in the garage like iv been doing for ages! Cheers

A strange one this, out of interest if you replace the mirror positioning switch with the original (or a spare one), does the issue with the mixed controls still exist? One way to try and find/limit the problems.

I'm taking an interest in this as I need to retro fit folding mirrors to my Golf R so I may be able to offer more help once I source all the bits I need.

Moving over to Flickr, sorry for the broken picture links!

some people are going to jump in here and give me grief but depending on what year the passenger side controller is from (and from VW stock not Seat) the puddle light does go off, just weird programming of the units by VW, i've seen this on various folding mirror VW's depending on year, your just going to have to live with that bit sadly.

have you already cleared them faults but there still there as usually its only if you've had the controllers out and turned on the ignition it would bring them up, cancel them first should just go away.

of course something else of interest i've just thought of with regard to the mirror switch, it has one wire that tells the controller what to do, by using different resistors built into the switch the controller detects this and changes direction accordingly, perhaps the Seat module wants to see a Seat switch there, yes i would have thought should have been identical throughout range but may be different, its nothing to do with the coding and everything to do with the internal software which you have no control over.
