^^^ Umm IIRC all GTI rear splash guards are the same (but could be wrong), they just need bending back to fit behind the wider ventilated discs  :happy2:

....That's exactly what I thought too. However, there didn't seem an obvious way to adapt them and we decided they weren't really necessary. I'll keep an eye on that area whenever she's up in the air on a lift.

I ought to check stokey's thread and see if he posted more specific info there.

Very nice! I have a set that I got from SteveP and can't wait to get them on my car. Think I will be sending them to DaveB before hand for some of his magic before hand  :happy2:

robin do you still have the guards ? they defo fit but as steve said they need a little tweek . happy do do it for you if you still have them

....That's very good of you to offer  :drinking:. IIRC they got cut into - Nearly 5 years and 82k miles made it difficult to remove the stock brakes. I left them in VWR's scrap pile.

Nice one Robin. They do make a considerable difference to the balance of the car under hard braking and a VERY positive one :happy2:

So the fronts are red and the backs are black?  :rolleye:

Waiting for the review!

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Some where sceptical of my previous reports..............

Anyhow,  GTI splash guards are all the same, just need to push them back a little bit.  They are fitted for a reason, about £5-6 a side from the TPS.

Edit - Splash guards are about £10-12 a side, bit more expensive than R32 Fronts............

Yep when I brought a set last year they where £12.10 a side (RRP).

I will be retaining my splash guards when I get my R32 rears fitted next week  :happy2:

....Thanks, Dave  :happy2:

Then perhaps I should buy some shiny new black ones.

Can they be fitted without removing the rest of the brake assembly?

....Sometimes the design theory/logic doesn't work.

I'll take and post a side-on pic in due course (in that review thread I might one day get around to writing). Don't forget that my OZ LeggyRita's are a major aesthetic component and also that my AP red calipers look nothing like an oem caliper. The design logic says it shouldn't work but I honestly think it does on my particular car.

Respecting and accepting that 'splash guards', or are they 'stone guards', are fitted for a reason, I'm curious what that reason is.

Splash, Sh!t, stone guards, all stuff to be kept away from the brakes IMO.  VW spent enough time designing it, and ensuring fit for purpose and safe operation.

To refit a set, you will need to cut a part of the shield out, to feed it over the hub.  See the below illustration.

part numbers

1K0 615 611 P - Splash Shield  left

1K0 615 612 P - Splash Shield right

....That's a bummer! I suppose this can be done without undoing the brake lines and having to bleed the brakes?

I assume a S3 or R32 sh!t guard can't be fitted to the GTI.
