I think it sounds like a decision needs to be made as to whether the new sticker conforms strictly to the current site design (in which case replicating the current Mk5GolfGTI.co.uk type in the chequered shape would be the sensible thing to do), or whether the site can adopt a new visual identity by changing the header design incorporating one of the designs with stronger typography.

forum relation aside for one second, community wise the design being the web address on a background rather than standing alone still wont incorporate those without golfs, would still be nice to be able to include them

in principle its no different than international mini owners plastering union flags onto their cars

however, with the use of the german flag i do tend to agree to some extent

I have no artistic merit whatsoever so I won't even try to make this but as far as incorporating all of our "brethren" in to a logo, how about a silhouet of the Golf, A3, Leon and Octy in a sort of front-side-on view with each car overlapping the next... if that makes sense?

I know that the engine from the GTI is in more than just those cars but that should get the idea that it's a VAG community across and if the Golf is the topmost silhouet then it still makes sense with the forum address.  Whether it'd be instantly identifiable on the other hand... probably not!

for what its worth, i think the fonts on Andrews design (real GTI font Aside) look great, and i think it would be good to get away from the Comic Sans esque Forum Banner.

I think Andrews got it sewn up, it looks fantastic! ;)
