Rear boot badge replacement
« on: May 03, 2010, 10:57:10 am »
Morning all!

I've got the dreaded white worm on the rear boot release badge. Was just wondering if it possible to seperate the badge from the handle and fit a new oem badge without too much hassle.
Anyone tackled this? or even that bothered by it?  is it just me being over anal?

Its fairly easy to get off i put the tip of a sharp knife under the edge of the badge and gently prised it away then worked my way around the badge removing it from the rest of the boot release.  :happy2:

Hi Garth - could you possibly post a link to that thread?  I'm being a numpty and can't find it.

I've just bought a 2005 Mk5 - spotless apart from whiteworm on the boot badge plus the badges at the centre of the alloys (can you buy replacements easily enough?).

Cheers
Richard.

The centre caps for the wheels are available from VW.  Got some for my Dad's Passat last week, £23 for 4 of them.

His boot badge is also suffering from white worm.  I was hoping that my old badge/handle from when I fitted the camera would fit but I've been told they are different sizes.  A new badge/handle for a Passat would be £93 to give you an idea on price.

Here you go:

The centre caps are only £20 for a full set from VW. My golf needed new ones when  bought it too.

Have a look on ebay for member jcbvolkswagen. I buy all my genuines VW parts from him. He's the parts guy at a VW dealer and does a great service. Sedn him a part request and he comes back with a price within 1 working day  :happy2:

No!

The rear of the badge has different clips to fasten it to the boot release section

The only way to do it would be to remove the clips and glue the badge on (which I wouldn't really recommend!)
Golf R gone.
