Hey Guys     :driver:

How is it going with you all.... 

I am Trying to decide on new brakes all round, that is :-
disks, pads & braided hose's
with a budget of about £400 - £450.

I was considering  DIMPLED BRAKE DISCS FRONT REAR GOLF MK5 GTi 2.0 TURBO
I would like them to be the same all round

I will not be using the car for track days....     :fighting:

Seconded. Ferodo DS Performance pads are good for road use too. DS2500 aren't road legal in an OE set up.
Only 250.1bhp - but with that noise, who cares?

That's all really common stuff you'd find at the likes of GSF and Euro Car Parts, do a bit of shopping around as I couldn't tell you who is cheapest.

PM DaveB1970 about braided lines though, he may have some unusually cheap.

Ferodo DS Performance pads are good for road use too. DS2500 aren't road legal in an OE set up.


....But they are road legal in an aftermarket brake kit such as AP Racing's.

Oh, I forgot to add - don't bother with the rears if they don't need changing. If they do, stick to OEM cheap as chips discs and pads, they're all you need, braided lines on the rear will help though.

Spend all your money on the fronts, they do all the work.

....Er, but if you go bigger and stronger braking on the fronts the ideal is to at least upgrade the rear brakes to something with a ventittilated disc and which balances the whole better. S3/R32 rears being a good example. That's what's been my experience and based on your advice, Mike, IIRC as well as others.

Not with 312s Robin, and certainly not for just the road - he'll have more than enough.

A rule of thumb guide:

S3 fronts = uprate rear pads
BBK = uprate rear brakes & pads

Unless of course you're like me and don't want big rears, because weight is bad and loose is fast!

I say dont bother changing your discs at all.  Alot of outlay for pretty much no gain over stock discs

just sort the pads all round for some pukka pads, then sort the brake lines nd fluid out

....I'm more likely to throw up from motion sickness than be laughing, mate. I began to feel sick when pax with Hurdy and he's quite a smooth driver.
