Standard GTI vs Ed30 Intake system differences?
« on: January 16, 2009, 10:55:55 am »
Anybody know if the Ed30 intake system - engine cover, maf housing if difference to the standard GTI?  I assume the MAF itself might be different as the big turbo kits seems to include a MAF.

or maybe someone had a decent engine pic of the Ed30 version ..?

I also think they are the same above the turbo.  The only bit I could see being different is the width of the pipe where it fits onto the turbo bit - but again this maybe the same.

In fact thinking about this the K03 and K04 on the outside are identicle so the plastic setup - tube to engine cover must be the same so the question lies, is the MAF and Engine cover different ...?  Part numbers are the way to check.

When you get a mo john, or if someone has ETKA to check ..?

Joe, I'll check with Revo Kev to see what they can offer for me on the map side.  Also yes just looking into options without going the full hog and emptying the bank account!

You dont half get mixed reports from people, I have been told to run Stage2+ on a K03 you should really have the injectors ... but I dont  - everyone has their own view I suppose.

Baccillus, yes I spotted that yesterday - emailed them to check it would fit the Golf as think the A4 is different slightly.

I have been looking into the possibility of getting a K03 modified with a K04 compressor wheel and modifiying the housing accordingly - this started out looking quite promising but doesnt look as though its completley possible - no matter what  the yanks say  )

The general though is if I do replace the K03 I should really check out what other options are available to me, if it turns out I have to go the full hog then I doubt I will as I cant justify the conversion costs most tuners want to charge.  We'll see....
