« on: May 15, 2010, 01:58:52 pm »

Trying to change my boot latch over for a new one as old was suffering from white worm.
Now managed to get boot lining out to expose all the nuts a screws i need to remove but doesn't matter what i try i cant remove the rear wiper arm to inable the motor drop out! Wd40, pulled it twisted it and still wont move!!!
You guys had trouble with this? Any ideas?
Thanks in advance guys.

The best way I have found is (after using some WD40 on the nut), wrap a soft cloth around the shaft and using a large headed spanner (adjustable ones work well) try to prise the wiper arm off. Then if the motor still won't drop out use a rubber mallet to tap it through.

However IIRC by loosing the wiper motor you can normally get to enough of the screws to remove the boot badge.

Which bit is stuck?

Have you got the wiper arm off?

You just need to be braver with the mallet.

I have removed around 10 of these on different cars now for the rear camera install and they all required a lot of force.

I still find it easier to prise the wiper arm off with the adjustable spanner and the use the mallet to knock the motor through.

I also used this method. Takes a lot of force to do, but you will get it off in the end.  :happy2:

The part is about 5mm long with the metal ball in the end to direct the water. That right????

Be gentle as this ETKA is new to me but I THINK the part number MAY be 3B9 955 985 A  - Spray Jet

Hopefully someone else with more experience with ETKA will either confirm the number or give you the right 1   :happy2:

Wish I'd seen this earlier :ashamed:

There's no need to remover the arm. All you needed to do to get the handle out was to unscrew the wiper motor and rotate it through 90 degrees and you can get the handle unit out whilst still keeping the motor and wiper arm in tact.
Golf R gone.
