This was the Maxi the first time round. Affectionately known as the Land Crab.

Good to see Shimano still as strong as ever in the bike world  :notworthy:

They first started giving Campagnolo some serious competition when I was a rider. Shimano were prepared to put huge resources into research and development of new ideas and it paid off.

..... :ashamed: Thanks! I should know better than that but it has been a very long time and a very long day out 'walking' a couple of Springer Spaniels this afternoon. One of them chased a C-A-T (hush) up a lamp post recently! A real Tom & Jerry moment.

As you will doubtless remember, they were known by riders as just "Campag". They also used to make Ferrari wheels.

Sorry Robin but I do remember Robin.

Campag cranks, front mech and seatpost but a Suntour rear mech and Cinelli bars and stem. Had some funky shifters on the downtube mind.

Been a long time for me too.  :happy2:

....Mine was all Shimano transmission, gears, and seatpost, Cinelli track bars (deep drop), Condor custom built made-to-measure frame, Look pedals. I also had a Condor winter training bike with room for mudguard clearance. Used to do about 150 training miles every week. I think it's where road sense gets developed and applies well to car driving.

I was still at school Robin. Most of my stuff was very secondhand.

It's not about the bike.

I'm currently running campagnolo on my summer carbon bike, never had it before always been shimano but I'm quite impressed with it. Just deciding whether to do Di2 on my next bike or keep it all Italian?!!!? :happy2:
