Also be interesting to see the styling they give the ED35 as the GTi already has everything colour coded, red stitched etc....

I'm going to be the negative one here and say that I can't see it having a K04 this time  :sad1: With the K04 being in both the Golf R and Rocco R and I can't see VW marketing 3 cars that are so similar with the same engine. I just don't see space for it.
My guess would be a slightly tweeked GTI, with a  slight power increase on the K03 (say 230bhp) and a few cosmetic changes.  Otherwise if it does come fitted with a K04 heart, then a quick map would have you a R killer and VW are obviously fully aware of the remapping capability of their FI engines..
Hope i'm wrong as the ED35 could be a perfect replacement to me if it's right.. :jumping:

VW always over engineer these things, I dont see it having the K03.  I think factory releasing the K03 with 230bhp is too close to the limites.

i think it will possibly have the K04 and a sh*te map to keep it away from the R's on paper.

All the better for people wanting to own one. Straight to revo and Bye bye Standard R!

only bummer is no more remapping unless you remove your ecu. Which means no warranty. :fighting:
So three more years before we see everyone remapping again :sad1:

Is that actually correct though - its only a matter of time before this is cracked as before - even removing the ECU is surely no major issue, not like they have to put on new chips like in the old days.

As above, it'll only be a matter of time till the big tuners crack it. Nothing is uncrackable...

They said the GT-R had an uncrackable ECU and they are now doing 1000bhp conversions. The GTI will be a doddle for the experts to crack. It took 6 months before remaps were tested and available to Joe public for the Edition 30, so I'd reckon the same for an Edition 35.

Personally I'd reckon on a strengthened E888 (MKVI) engine and a different turbo....maybe not the K04, but something along the lines of what APR use for their stage 3, but an OEM version that puts out 250ish horsies as stock, maybe the ACC as standard and hopefully some uprated brakes over the stock MKVI GTI.
Golf R gone.

So... wish list really is similar to the Ed30 over the GTI

Brakes
Turbo
Wheels
LED lights
some fancy interior changes
maybe R side skirts
