Reflash of ecu
« on: June 15, 2010, 08:31:19 am »
I buried this question in my rambling service question post.

Do main dealers charge for a reflash of the ecu? My local stealer suggested they would not do this at all unless I was having issues....

I had full revo and wanted it removed but not sure what the dealer (since gone bust) flashed it back to.... Just want it back to stock but the @rseholes are saying no  :fighting:

Thanks, I will need to find a VW dealer who will do it clearly Arnold Clark, Jordanhill are as cr@p as ever.

I was booked in for Friday, I am going to cancel and get an appointment with my independent, at least they wont rip me off for what is a five minute check!

Update. the dealer did not check the ecu! It was on the job sheet but failed to do so as the vw online system was "down" :stupid:

It goes back weds for brake work, could do so then, but they want an hours labour.....about £70, what a joke.

Is this something that someone with vagcom could do in 2 minutes? Surely it's a case of plugging into the obdc port with the laptop and reading a value?

Does anyone know what it should be?

why?

Just put the car back into stock mode?

If the car has the latest firmware the dealership will have to do a hard reflash which apparently requires assistance from head VAG tech.

Why? I want it stock with no trace of revo.

I do not have the ability to do this myself, ie no way of putting it into stock.

revo was removed by Drivers Glasgow allegedly, I just want vw to reload the proper sw, is that so difficult for the dealer to do/ understand  :rolleye:

For warranty work? Insurance claim? Only reason I can think of for you not wanting a trace of revo. Tuner might be your next best bet!

If you know someone with a sps or sps plus switch, ask them to see if they can enable performance mode.
Obviously you can't with the VW stock ecu software.

No because my mpg has gone south. I had issues with the revo dealer, I wanted to invoke the 30 day money back no quibble guarantee, he quibbled we squabbled, I'm not convinced they didn't set things to foook me over, call me paranoid but I just want the sw to be reloaded to the current and most original version.

Maybe I just need to buy an sps switch and try but for the love of all things good, can't this just be verified by a vagcom check and confirm the sw loaded is what vw say it bloody should be?

IMO if you had issues with the revo dealer and wanted your money back, I would call the revo support line and see if they can assist you using another local revo agent.

Revo support number is 01327 301901

Thanks yes. revo was removed or tweaked so it didn't deliver performance, I just want the bog standard software that vw load onto vw mk5 golf gtis. I do not want revo to flash my ecu to their version of the standard map, I just want the OEM software.

so does anyone have an idea what the version number of the latest release is?

^^^ The revo dealers will have access to the original stock OEM flash so that is all they would have put on.

Why do you think the VW dealer should do it FOC?

Ok. I do not think they should do it foc. But all I want is for the dealer to hook up a lap top and tell me that the version is ok or not, it does not take one hour to plug into the obdc port and note the version does it?

My original post asked if they do charge, but that day the dealer actually said they wouldn't even do that at all.

Perfectly happy to pay to get it back if it's needed.
