When my tips get really bad, I use Cillit Bang Degreaser to get rid of the horrible black stuff- works really well.

Finish it off with fine wire wool and Autosol.  :happy2:
Or get the Boyfriend to do it for you  :P

Another good product for the exhausts is RaceGlaze Alutech... it works wonders getting the exhausts clean and it also leaves behind a layer of protection that helps to keep them cleaner for longer.

We use it on our exhaust around once every three months and due to the protective coating it leaves behind we only jet wash them off in between applications and they come up sparkling

Hope this helps

I bought my GTI second hand and the exhaust tips are filthy and black,
What finish do the tips have from the factory... is it chrome?
