Oil WARNING Light
« on: July 06, 2010, 07:43:32 pm »
Been away for a while took the car out yesterday and the oil light came on  :fighting:

Now i do check my oil once every 2 or 3 weeks and was ok before i went away, so i topped the oil up but the bloody light is still on is there a system check you can do without a vag.com thinngy ma bob or will i need to visit someone with a vag tool to reset the light ?

Why would it stay on when i have topped the oil up to just below max ?

Thanks
Richard.

Doesn't it also come on with a lack of oil pressure? If so, check the cap's fitted right and if that doesn't solve it, get it scanned.
If you have to ask why, you'll never understand.

From memory theres also a oil quality sensor somewhere, so you might have plenty of it but if it doesnt like it then the light will stay on. The reason for the top up would be to dilute the oil that its not happy with with good stuff...

I used Castrol to fill it up and was serviced within the last 4K

I read a few bits on here last night but don't know as it says oil level, not oil pressure on the dash.

I will be visiting PDT this week so Dave could put it on the Vag.com thinggy but was just wondering why this would stat on when the level is just under max, and i have used Quality oil  :sad1:
