I still stand in my opinion that good spec 5 door Dsg ed's are being more sort after and demand is greater then a 3 door manual or poverty spec versions. Autotrader and Pistonheads are littered with them.

Again Enthusiasts to the mk5 GTi know the differences on this model to the Normal GTi.

I agree with Nathan that it will do more good then harm to help its resale value.

I have been offered 15k by my dealer as trade as it is, not bad considering i payed 18k for it just over 2 years ago, and clocked a further 30,000 miles on it.

I would agree that this is also true for VW dealerships. The only ed30 I can get near on my budget is a 3dr pauper spec... The 5drs and/or DSG's have a significant mark-up and seem to be selling faster.

Err I think thats going to always be the case if you think about it......

Price clarification is always a blood bath - Forget what you know about Golfs - lets imagine you're a motor trader stood at an auction and an Ed30 is coming into the ring, its got 1/2 leather and its colour coded..... how much over the odds are you going to pay over the price that the Metallic Black/Black Leather/MFD2 GTI on 18" monza's that went through 15 minutes ago made?

Im not dissing the car at all Im just saying that the trade/ ^^^ That motor trader will always find a level and they're always pessimistic, the prices wont be set on here they'll be set at that auction where there'll be no prisoners taken.

Im just playing devils advocate and saying that exactly the same thing happened with the Mk4, if you look in the classifieds here you'll see the last few have really struggled to sell....there was a 6,000 miler that stuck for a bit, 12 months ago it wouldn't have touched the sides of classifieds.

ANyway to the OP good luck with the sale

Again dont get me wrong they're a great car with great people that drive them..... I dearly miss the Petrol Engine &  DSG my Golf had, but I only paid a little more for my new Rocco that people are asking for nearly out of warranty Golfs! Its unsustainable imvho

If Mk4 Anni's are much to go by, just do a comparrison between that and a standard Mk4 GTi.

There is a big markup, and i do agree with you dave, a trader will just look at it as a bigger money maker, as you can garuntee, when he gets it back to his Forecourt, it will have a huge markup due to demand, exactly why Vw dealerships are having bidding wars to try and land a 5 door version , as its more popular and relatively easier to shift.
My dealership is a prime example, has 3 Gti's, one red standard 3 door, one Black standard 3door, 07 plates, and a white one, (5 door Man) (an Ed30) with a purchaser already lined up. (PeterCooper Hedge End).
only had it less then a week. Red ones been there for a good 3 months!.

If your lucky enough to have say someone from an Ethusiasts Website (Like say Gti_mad)who is willing to spend the money to get the right spec car. Then as a seller, you will recoup more cash way above what a dealer will try and offer you bottom price.

^^^ thanks for the mention steve....... the reason im lookin for a rele good spec'd car is i dont want the hassle of having to buy/ look for stuff 2 retrofit as it could take ages waitin for the bits i want or work out more expensive than buyin a car with them fitted

Had the ED30, but not got the balls.

Mk5 silver 5door Ed30 1707- now sold
