Job interview tips

Well I've got two job interviews next week, one of the jobs I really want. Any tips on what to say/do? How can I stand out from other candidates?

Research into the company history.
Have a list of your good and bad qualities listed in your mind - make the bad quality seem like a good one though eg. you are a bit of a perfectionist, etc.

If all else fails, lie through your teeth.

Now, whether or not you'd get the job, im not sure! But, you would definitely stand out from the crowd!

My tip would be that first impressions count for a lot in these situations, be forward and introduce yourself, when they say their name repeat it back to them so you will remember it.
Make sure you have a couple of questions to ask them at the end to show your are interested.

If they offer you a drink, have some water. Then if they ask you a question that you may struggle to answer, have a sip of water, as it'll give you a few seconds to think of a answer. Its alot better than going ummmm?! lol

usual stuff:

Turn up suited and booted
Turn up at the right place (check and double check where you're supposed to go. I have in the past, driven to the location tomscope it out).
Turn up on time (or better still, early)
Know what the job is, what it, know what the company is, their "mission statement" or similar.
Know your CV inside out. If you've put references, let the referees know and given them a copy of your CV too.
Why should they pick you? What do you have over somebody who has the same qualifications and experience? What are you good at? What are you bad at (again try and show these in a positive light)?
Where do you see yourself in 5-10 years' time?
i would ask them when you would hear by and how eg email/phone/letter.

Try and think up some questions to ask at the end as well.  Not pay and condition related ones but maybe what training is likely to be available and what prospects the company can offer you in the long term - that sort of jazz.

A lot of companies nowardays have set types of psychological questions that they ask to gauge how honest and how much integrity people have, how they would react in certain circumstances and to give any examples of where the interviewee was in a similar circumstance and what they did and what was the outcome. Think carefully about how you answer your questions and if possible give ACTUAL examples rather than "well if I was in this situation I would......"

Believe me, I have done quite a few interwiews with prospective employees and some of the answers you wouldn't believe.....

Admitting skiving off work
Admitting stealing from work
Accepting poor quality
Covering for others shortfalls
Blaming others for their faulty work

Etc etc.

Be careful and always come across as honest and trustworthy in any answers you give

Honest answers are better than trying to build yourself up to be amazing
