Rust!!!!!

Afternoon all.

Thought i'd give the car a good clean this morning and as doing so i found a couple of small areas of rust on the off side drivers wheel arch! Not happy! I haven't had a vw rust before and certainly wont except one rusting now.
What ere my chances of my local vw dealers doing it under the corrosion warranty? The guy i bought it from got a years warranty when he bought it from a vw dealer and that doesn't run out till october but will that still apply to the car now its been passed on to me? Or will they just tell me to do one?
Anyone else had anything like this happen? and if so please share what the out come was with us.

As far as I'm aware the pain has 3 years warranty, and there's 12-years corrosion warranty. The first thing to ask is whether the car's been in any accident or had the paintwork repaired at any point? The warranty is valid only on original paintwork!

As far as i can tell its original paint but i'm the third owner so cant be 100 % sure . Will take it in to my local vw dealer then stamp my feet and hold my breath if they say no

Gonna take it in to my local vw dealer tomorrow for them to have a look. Just hope they dont arse me around !
If they do might just have to mention this forum and see if that changers thier minds

That might have a negative effect lol

They might then think, if we repair it, he'll post up we've repaired.. then we'll have every Tom, Dick and Harry coming up for warranty repairs

Yes but warranty repairs is usually a nice little earner for a dealership.

Well took it to my local vw dealer today and was told i had to see the big boss man as it was warranty work,
He walked to the car with me armed with a camera and note pad and ptg meter.
Now to me you can clearly see rust on the underside lip of the wheel arch and some bubbling, and he said vw probably wouldn't agree the work because it was probably a stone that caused it   I pointed out that there was stone chips on the bonnet and they hadn't rusted! Looked at me like i had two heads  
But he woluldn't strap a pair of balls on and authorise the work without sending some pics and a report to mr Volkswagen and his family.
And the only word he mumbled to me was 'dont hold your breath'  
Some dealers are total ar*es!

I had the exact same experience, but with enough complaining aka stating my rights for them to repaint it...they gave in! ;)

You're expecting the dealer to get back to you??!! I'm sorry but you'll have to chase them at least 3 times

     To be honest i did think that today when he said it. I'll keep chasing alright!

Nothing much to report really just a small update. Got a  call from another guy from my local vw dealers who is putting the report together to send to Mr Volkswagen and he was very helpful, said that no way was the rust caused by a stone a would put a really good report together and would try to fight my corner, should get back to me tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

good luck mate, i had a small bit of rust on the sill, just under the front wing so no way was it accessable to a stone but they still took pics and checked with pdc. all got sorted in the end but took ages to get a date to book it in
