How can you select all the tracks to either uncheck or check prior to transfer to ipod??????

On Windows press ctrl and click in the check box
On Mac press cmd and click in the check box

In your library, select all songs so they turn blue (Ctrl + A).
Right click on one of the songs and choose either 'Check Selection' or 'Uncheck Selection'. This should either check or uncheck them all at once.
