I don't know if anyone read the EVO 2010 Tyre Test, but the results were as follows:

1 Conti SportContact 3 93.4%
2 Uniroyal RainSport 2 88.7%
3 Vredestein Ultrac Cento 88.4%
4 Bridgestone Potenza RE050-A 87.9%
5 Michelin Pilot Exalto PE2 87.4%
6 Yokohama Advan Neova AD08 87.2%
7 Kumho Ecsta Le Sport KU39 80.8%
8 Hankook Ventus V12 Evo 80.1%
9 Zeetex HP103 73.1%

I wonder whether the Ultrac Cento is seen as the higher performance tyre over the Ultrac Sessantas...

I wouldn't go for the Sessantas if you want longevity - I use them on my car and find they wear very quickly.

Ditto

I am running them at the moment. I wrote a mini-review over on Briskoda:  http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/163809-vredestein-ultrac-centos/page__p__2005654

Changed to the Bridgestone Potenza RE050A. :happy2:   Very good grip on a mapped car (the Conti 2's I had on were no good at all)

Had: Edition 30, 3 Door Manual, Pearl Black, Cruise Control, IPod Prep, Arm Rest, Auto Lights and Wipers

That's what I thought when I read it, they all, bar the Contis, seem on a different level to the previous EVO tyre test.

Someone asked the question in this months EVO and they said they were doing a proper performance tyre test later in the year.

I've tried vreds, f1's and PS2's.  F1's and vreds are very evenly tied, I'll keep buying the vreds because they are great value, slightly quieter and have a really stiff sidewall so turn in feels a little sharper.  Haven't tried ps3's but ps2's were awful and I'll never buy a michelin tyre again.

What we have to remember guys is we make our comparisons against our previous 1.6 mm tyres and most replacements will feel better.  I can't comment on vreds at 1.6mm but I found with the ps2's they were awful in the wet from 50% worn whereas the f1's were perfect all the way to 1.6 mm.

Go to disagree.

I changed from Vreds to PS3 when my Vreds still had 5mm left on them and they were miles better.

I agree the Vreds & F1 (GSD3 not tried Assymetric) were evenly matched but they both lost performance as the tyres wore out. Which is to be expected

I have never worn my tyres down on the vRS below 3mm as i believe 1.6mm is just stupid and plain dangerous. I find it absurd that is the Legal Limit. So don't know how they perform at such a low tread depth but i haven't found a tyre that doesn't lose performance as the tread wears out.

GSD3's were awful after they passed 50% worn, I'm referring to the assymetric design f1 which was far better.  Apparently a characteristic of directional tyres to become poor once past 50% worn.  PS2's and vreds are both assymetric.  I'm not a michelin fan I'm sorry but I really don't believe there can much difference between the top tyres.  The awards the vreds have won says a lot

well im on conti sport 3's atm and think there rubbish apart from on the moterway, so i think its between the verds or ps3's and the ps3s are about 25 quid more per tyre (spelt it correctly this time) so i shall see in a month or so as im down to around 4mm on them

No love for Pirellis?
I've been running P-Zero Rossos on my car for absolutely ages now and really like them. I get excellent performance and quite good longevity ('cos I do high mileage).

Just ordered my first pair of PS3s. Looking forward to seeing how them compare to the Sessantas.

Just before i bought my gti the previous owner put Pirellis on, i don't know which type but i find them very grippy in the dry, haven't tried them in very wet weather yet, road noise is normal levels also.
