from what i have read and heard people say is the stage 1 + 2 on bluefin was great it was only when they went to stage 2+ that they decided to get revo.

....Another good reason to think what future modding plans might be.  :happy2:

if your only going stage 1/2 and are not figure chasing then i say bluefin, it still a mighty quick ar with it.

If you plan on going crazy and want the most out of it, you need revo,  or try another tuner such as APR Jabbasport or shark performance.  iirc all are cheaper than revo.  id be highly tempted with a jabba custom map.

You can smile sweetly at male friends and JKM down the road, and they'll alter settings on VCDS for you.

Not sure how you can change Revo settings with VCDS but I'm all ears.

As for volunteering JKM's time just be aware that they are quite within their right to charge for it.

I say stick with what you have unless you plan to mod the hell out of it. Stage 1 is good and for the cost of an exhaust Stage 2 is even better

....I forgot that the friend who alters mine (when I'm not at JKM) is a Revo agent and does it for free. Possibly because I introduced him to the job.

I didn't mean to suggest that JKM would do it for free. It obviously depends what other work is being done.

From what i can gather  , Mandy is not planning going all balls out stage 2+at 1st.

Stage 1 or stage 2 is she ever decides to get a milltek, which i keep telling her to get 1st

Wow, thanks for all your advice everyone!

I can understand that each map has their own pros and cons etc...

Judging by the comments, sounds like Bluefin will be fine for stage 1, but may need Revo or something for stage 2/ 2+.

I guess the deciding factor would be down to how much I plan to mod the car in future.

I'd love to say I'll go stage one and stick with it, but you never know do you?? (Why did I join this forum!)  :signLOL:

Who, me? Are you trying to suggest that I'm a corrupting influence?!?!?

I've got no basis of comparison vs Bluefin, but I've got to say that Revo has completely surpassed my expectations. As an ex A3 diesel driver, I have been so pleased that Revo has given me sooooooo much torque compared with stock - it pull really well from the bottom end, seems a lot looser and responsive, and fits really well with my driving style. You don't need to rev the nuts off the car to make progress very (very!) quickly.

At stage 1, I think it's amazing. Of course, how long the car stays at stage 1 is another question........

Will I be going 'crazy'?.... Hmmm..... Good question........

I've got no immediate plans for a Milltek at the mo, standard one is fine and sounds luurvely IMO....

 :signLOL: At least your honest!

:surprised: What was so bad about it??

Who, me? Are you trying to suggest that I'm a corrupting influence?!?!?

^^^ Yes, YOU are the bad influence... (I need to put the blame on someone!)  :signLOL:

I suppose I could just try the Bluefin, then switch to Revo if I decided to tinker with anything else on the car.

Would only cost me £200 for Bluefin and significantly more for Revo, unless if any offers pop up from Revo then I could easily be swayed...

Should I be changing/upgrading anything else on the car for stage 1 or will the standard car handle it pretty well? Any recommendations??

^^^^
It's a slippery slope, Mandy!

Once a car is remapped with that extra oomph you start to use the added performance and realise that better brakes (better pedal response and more confident stopping power) and suspension (anti-roll bars in particular) would better compliment your remap. Also, a stock exhaust isn't going to release the full potential of the remap you've paid for. Need I go on?

I know a young lady who loves her modified Mini (original) and her new boyfriend got into trouble when he bought her something girlie for her birthday. At Christmas he bought her a performance exhaust! Of course now he's very much still in favour.

My mate who works for VW said he knows a bloke who can do a mobile Revo remap for £350.

Is this possible? Does it sound dodgy?

Seems like a good price but I'm not convinced...

sounds dodgy to me.  REVO have approved dealers of which i believe all would have dyno facilities to set the car correctly

i wouldnt go ahead until i spoke to revo HQ first to confirm tht the map is legitimate

Thanks Sy.  :happy2:

Think I'll give it a miss, I've never been sure about any kind of 'mobile remap'.
