I remember popping into the Bilstein office at the ring with Beddie and a few others, inside was the craziest guy I have ever met.  He knew numbers, dates, ratios, concepts and development stories to boggle anyone.

After quite a lot of engineering banter I left feeling happy that if I were to run coilovers i'd shy away from KW and opt for Bilsteins.

Sounds like interest levels in the B12 Bilstein Kit are slowly growing.

I fear it's gonna get expensive for me (again)..if we end up (potentially) doing a Group Buy.

Great suspension.
If I would buy a non-coilover-suspension I'd surely go for the B12.

Dave, the original springs were blue but were they Eibach repainted?

On the Bilstein website they are now red Eibach springs.

Can the damper be bought seperately and is it a B12 damper or a B6 B8 etc?

B12 dampers = B8 dampers

B12 dampers = B8 dampers

So if you were to buy a set of bilstein springs, then later upgrade and add the B8 dampers you essentially have the B12 kit?

On the bilstein website the springs are now eibach.

Were they eibach before just repainted?

That's what I actually heard before but wondered if Dave could confirm.

they did two options - you could have eibach or H & R. I heard they stopped supplying the kits with H & R springs and the kits were discontinued out of the factory. They may have started doing them again purely with Eibach.

B12 were a b8 damper that was valved differently to match the spring rate. The springs were H&R (blue) but all B12 kits are discontinued as they are switching to Eibach springs (red)

Its still listed Dave, as a B12.

Is it as good as before?

If not would you still rate the B8 dampers?

All B12 are still listed, but not available through the UK supplier, nhave tried to order/enquire about B12 for 3 cars today and have been told to buy B8 and seperate springs as no stock of the new B12 exists. I have not tried one of the new kits but the old B12 used Eibach before switching to H&R a few years back, I  doubt they would suddenly drop their build quality and reputation due to a change in spring supplier.

I do a lot of B8 upgrades (just shocks) on BMW's and the difference they make is outstanding even with stock springs.

finally got this fitted and is an awesome bit of kit, handling is miles better over stock and the stance is perfect.
