Missis has just reminded me that I was told I needed a helmet if I went again :scared:

Anyone got one at short notice?

It has rained here in Sheffield overnight, but it is clear now.

Going to risk it and come down anyway. Hopefully it will not be too packed and those who turn up will get quite a bit of practice even if the times aren't there.

I'm leaving the "heavy" wheels on today, just to see what effect they have on grip, accelleration, speed. 60' times etc. :happy2:

Setting off around 7.30am, which means I'll be there around 10am if the traffic isn't too bad.
Golf R gone.

Back from the POD and can offically say ive lost my 'drag' virginity! Am now hooked, went up strip 5 times and my best  14.84 - not too shabby for a completly standard manual GTI. I can also confirm Hurdy is a 'strip addict' after 21 runs  :driver:(weirdo! nice to meet you tho chap, great car in the flesh too, love the CF!!!)
Not the best turnout of mk5's, only 5 of us but good weather and GOOD old fashioned fun   :P

How the hell did he manage that?

Either he got there stupidly early or he pushed everyone out the way!  :signLOL: :driver: :driver: :driver:

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Just got home, my best run was 14.126!!!!!!!!! I was so happy with it. I achieved that on my final run, where i think i really got the start nailed. So i think if id had a few more times I could have gone into the 14.0..'s. Still think with a bit more practice a sub 14s time is easy for a mapped GTI!

More details, photos, videos to follow later.

Ben, Steve, Dan, John - great to see you again.  :happy2:

It was dead! You could do a run, then come back and be back on the strip within about 2 minutes! Perfect day really.

I got there at 11:30, and John had done about 12 runs already!

I did 15 in total.

He had an issue with his gearbox at the end, so i hope he got back ok.

P.S. I beat Hurdy on one run......................

He was mid-low 13's Steve, the run I beat him on he had a problem with his DSG - it got stuck in 2nd on the limiter!

A win is a win nonetheless hahaha!

Nah, we had a couple of other runs with eachother and he dominated me!  :happy2:
