Ipod connection
« on: September 02, 2010, 12:22:15 pm »
I have an 05 plate with the double din radio/sat nav unit.

i had the CD in the armrest removed and replaced with an iPod lead which works ok but the headunit stills sees it as needing CD's so I have to create 6 playlists on my iPod so i know what music is where

is this normal - i was hoping i could still control the iPod manually but it seems to be locked when connected?

Also, can i play video using it...

It should be simple stuff but AV baffles me!

It sounds like you have the early ipod kit and non touch screen sat nav.

Basically you have about the best OEM option available for that unit.

If you have the later touchscreen sat nav then you can get the OEM MDI kit that will allow full headunit based control of the iPod. At present there is no OEM kit that will support video.

Ah!

Thanks

So can i upgrade the headunit or would swapping the ipod lead for a normal 3.5mm jack work?

You can swap to an aux in and then you have direct control from the iPod, cables can be found for the MFD2 on ebay pretty cheaply  :happy2:
