Damo, those are brilliant shots anyway!  :congrats: :congrats: :congrats: :congrats: :congrats: :congrats:

They capture the lighting and atmosphere and prove that it's not just great camera gear that gets the shot. In some ways, these images may be better due to what you used.

....As a keen photog you are naturally forever being self critical and it's right that you should do so. Otherwise, how else do you improve. However, when others look at your images they don't neccessarily do so in such a technical photographic way. As you probably know, I'm a retired professional Graphic Designer and Art Director and have worked with (directed) some pretty famous photographers and so I have a critical eye. Believe me, when I say that even though you know these shots could be improved, they are seriously good - You really have captured and conveyed the atmosphere and scene. I particularly love the colour too. The third shot is the weakest of the three IMO and the first pic is the best.

I see these shots as images rather than pin sharp technical photos. They communicate what was going on and that, for me, is what it's all about - Capturing it and sharing. It's also why I started this thread - Not as who could post the 'best' shot technically.

Having photographed a few gigs in my time, even from the front row centre with being official permits, I can tell you that sometimes using a pro camera means that you miss out on the actual gig because you are so focussed and glued to that small black window of a viewfinder (old tech 35mm SLR Nikons etc).

I totally agree Rob
Good subject matter - and an eye for a shot, can combine to produce interesting results.

Here's a few recent one's

Fabulous shots, Nige! Not just technically good and sharp but lovely rich colour and an eye for composition. Captured the animals well too.  :notworthy:

Would love to take all the praise chaps - but I have to give most of it to Mr Nikon and his D90 - and of course the legendary VR system.
Here's a couple of low light shots taken without flash and hand held!! by way of a couple of examples F4.5 @ 1/30 Sec with Iso 1250

Cheers
