Interior Rattles-covered by warranty?

its not too much to ask to be able to drive about without screws falling out behind the dashboard and what sounds like an angry woodpecker making a bid for freedom

^^ Sounds like you have a screw loose or two. Check the side panels that are on each furthermost sides of the dashboard (where the door cards meet when closed)

Pop each cover off each side, and your find a loose screw on each side which just needs tightning up, to cure one of your dash rattles.


Other main rattle in centre air vent housing is a easy to fix. If you remove centre air vent (as if your removing radio) behind the diverter plate above radio, there is a flat peice of metal that, if you force a couple of broken lolly sticks above it, it WILL stop your centre dash rattles.

My dashboard is totally quiet warm or cold with no rattles whatsoever

Good shout about the loose screws but thats not the problem for me.  Its something bigger thats loose but damned if I can find it.  It could actually be the belly pan or something thats loose and the sound is transmitted inside the car so it sounds like its behind the glovebox.  Thats the next area for investigation anyway ...

Update to this if its usefull for anyone else - I found the passenger side wheel arch liner was loose and further investigation found that one of the clips which you screw the wheel arch liner into had come out of its hole and was tapping against the bodywork 

I could have sworn the sound was coming from inside, behind the glovebox but evidently not.  All fixed and so glad I was able to track it down.

Sound waves, like water, tend to travel. This often makes the source very difficult to trace. I hadn't driven for 9 days and went out to a gig last night on some very minor roads - Boy, do I have a few rattles etc! But I find it doesn't bother me in the slightest - Getting on the throttle dials them out.
