Side light bulb changing tip.
« on: September 15, 2010, 03:44:28 pm »
Don't know if you'r aware but the black box type thing behind the drivers side headlight can be removed from it's bracket to give you a bit more room to get you'r hand in.

Just did mine & it made it so much easier, just lift it from the bracket, it's held in by plastic lug type things & move it to the side. Now have osram nightbreakers & the osram matching side light bulbs fitted. Anyone close to Harrogate thats wants a hand please call round. :happy2:

That black box thingy is a charcoal filter or something like that,
I did my bulbs with it still in place (hurt though)

Yes, it's the charcoal filter box which all UK cars have to have:

On the passenger side I've got a Twintake intake to deal with!:

.... - When I selected that pic for posting I literally said to myself "How soon before someone asks me about that red pin!?" In fact I nearly added what it is to my post.

Yes, and great they are too for a carbon bonnet - AeroCatches:

i hated changing sidelights. Still don't understand why, when the dipped and indicators are so easy, are the mains and sidelights are so difficult.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.
