i managed an extra 3mpg on average using 99 ron petrol in comparison to 97ron. wouldnt dream of putting 95 ron in the car.  im with stealthwolf in thinking thats its stupid to do that.

the extra cost of 99 ron fuel was easily cancelled out by the better fuel economy.

I must say when my car was AMD stage 1 I did not notice any improvement in fuel economy with or without Vpower it just drove an went a lot better when on Vpower. My car is DSG and it this gearbox works so much better when I am using Vpower also.  I am sure this is because the engine and gearbox are designed to work at their best, power/torque etc, on Vpower type fuel. I am now AMD stage 2 and I am sure my fuel economy has improved!

Guys, thanks for all the feedback.
The car actually managed 199.6 Bhp on the rolling road with 95 RON, which would indicate to me that there must be a reasonable improvement to the BHP increase due to having the turbo back Milltek system?  The guys at AMD are assuming that the 99 RON will give me an extra 20-25 because the car is only pushing 240BHP and you guys are talking about between 260-280 BHP with almost the same mods as myself?  I'm going back in about 3 weeks to get it on the rolling road again and hopefully see some improvement on the BHP, so I'll definitely let you all know........it seems though that nobody here on the forum has actually had the rolling road with 95 RON and then upped it to 99 RON for another test......... probably because I'm a muppet that was out of the remapping game for 10 years  :signLOL:

Stage 1 though mate yeah? In which case 260-280bhp is impossible on a stage 1, thats a stage 2 custom map with, as others have said, uprated fuel pump and I would imagine you'd need to go K04 or at the very least a better intercooler to see 260+ off a stage 2.

Only time you'd get that power is if you had a stock ED30 and mapped it, then you'd touch 300 with just the map.

Definately 99RON though mate!!! Always! :happy2:

I was told of by VW for using 95 ron in my tank, it could invalidate my warranty if anything happened to my engine or associated parts they advised. In fairness all times this has happened its because the filling station didn't have super unleaded.

Strange!!, I am sure that it quotes using 85 in the manual and on the fuel flap ?

isnt it 95/98 on the fuel flap ?
cant see VW having a problem with 95 unless youve towed a trailer at high altitude for days whilst running it....

id reccomend putting your car on a dyno dynamics rolling road.  if you make good figures on a well ran DD dyno you will truly have good power
