That looks good mate, two of my mates at work have both painted their calipers. One did it with a brush, with the caliper off but the carrier on. The other did it without taking anything off, just masked everything off. Scirroco tsi and a mk4 gti. Not what I would do, but they both look good. Either way, I'm saying that having done yours properly, I'm sure itll look ace, two coats or three coats.

Well it's a bit of a bodge. Doing it properly means sending them off and throwing another 200quid at someone to do it properly. CBA. in a few weeks the will be covered in crap anyway.

Looks a good improvement Rich - have only ever read about this mod, but not heard of too many people on here doing it. Looks very affordable compared to my R32/S3 conversion! Congratulations on the mileage milestone!

Right.... that didnt go as planned.

I started to do the caddy rears and hit a problem when I couldnt get the hard brake line off the back of the caliper. I could move the but the pipe was fused to the nut. I tried holding the pipe but it was just twisting.

So I have to go to Alex's tomorrow to get some new hardlines.

Also... I noticed that the calipers I bought appeared to be upside down with the bleed nipple on the bottom. A few panics, and Alex confirmed that they are upside down and you have to swap all the brackets on the rear of the caliper over from the GTI to the caddy ones. You can see below what I mean. So where as I presumed that was a passenger side caliper, its not its a drivers side.

It al comes as a relief as I had painted them and there is no way I could send them back.

Hopefully will get them on tomorrow.

f*ckers are on.

New hard lines. Had to pop up to Alex at AKS to get some this morning.

I need to re-bleed the rear calipers in a few days time and give the carrier another coat of paint, then its job done

Firstly well done Rich  :happy2: another subtle but more than worthy upgrade for similar money to factory fitted items.

Rich, I feel it would be worth copying this Caddy rear brakes mod out of your thread and pasting it into the "How To Section" with your learning curve fresh in your mind - others will most like do it since you've got the makings of a good how to in your thread.

Thanks. Yeah I could do but tbh I didn't take enough photos and I'm not sure this is a mod that everyone will be jumping on. Only seems like a handful of people have done it.

Tbh the brakes feel very similar to before. They defo need bleeding again and I need to give it a proper drive to test them.

People with better rear / more balanced brakes lack car control, I heard
