All done.. px side was much easier, nothing stuck and I bought an impact driver to tackle the disc retaining screw. Discs swapped over, which was a complete f*ck of a job juggling jacks and ramps etc, but got it done.

Took it out for a drive and rang a local garage and got in booked it in there and then to get the front toe set. It wasn’t a million miles out but happier to know I won’t chew the front tyres. Px pads were not as bad as driver side.

Brakes are silly sharp now, initial bite is ridiculous compared to the old ones. Guys at the garage loved the car and the chap said he “nearly went through the window” when he stopped it.

Booked in for mot too on the 3/11

All my rear bushes (expect the toe bush) are original and 14 years old so instead of poly bushing or replacing the OEM bushes at huge expense I decided to go down the Lemforder OEM route. All the bushes are already pressed in making it a job I can easily (providing the bolts are not seized) DIY it.

I managed to get all this lot off eBay for just under £100 which was a real bargain IMO. I just need the trailing arms and a few more bolt kits and I should have all the stuff to do the job for ~£230. Even though I do have an OEM bush, I might use a poly bush on the lower hub joint as it’s in 2 bits and wont require pressing in.

That's a funky price!  I like Lemforder stuff and their online catalogue makes it easy to get all the part numbers to cross ref on ebay.

I will be watching this as I need to do the same to mine.  It'll be nice to have a pert rear end again.

I know that new GTI's (Mk7 & 8) have their own bushing with different stifness and references compared with the non GTI's versions but on Mk5 are all the same. At least is what I concluded when searching for the front ones.

I bought the Meyle, good too.

Who is the ebay seller you used for your Lemforder parts?  Cheers!

Seems I have sprung a leak in my ac condenser. I thought it would be down at the bottom, but it’s leaking from the top near one of the brackets which is a bit odd. I wonder if it’s been given a shunt at some point.

Can’t say it’s a job that I am looking forward to but it needs doing.

New condenser. Getting a new pressure switch on order  too, I think the old ones ok but whilst it's all in bits it's easy to get to.

Nissens for the win!
I quite like the silver colour - on mine its visible through the front grille - looks like a stupidly massive FM intercooler:

This was the state of mine when i took it out:

Wow, that’s taken a beating.  :scared:  I can see the fins on mine are all smashed in but as far as I can see there are no gaping holes in it  :signLOL:

Do you renew the foam strip around the perimeter of the condenser? On the side that faces the IC?

Edit…. Just ordered the seals too.
