If I recall correctly, the Mk6 GTI has the side button and so do the Audi's - Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. Personally I prefer the button on my Mk5 GTI as it's ergonomically more natural to use.

Which model is your car then, mate?

I have the 2.0 gt TDI DSG

My wants.....

Would love the paddle shift
want the full RNS510, rear screens etc. bluetooth the works.....

Just seem to be hearing seeing so many issues with coding, things going wrong after installing an RNS.......

Seems EVERYTHING in the Golf is done by coding......

Here we go....this is pretty much the same......

I reckon it could be swapped, someone with the latest S4 had the side button and swapped it for the other one.

....Why would there be a "simple advance"? VW would have no logical reason to change it as far as I can see.

Faced with such complexities I would stay put off. You'll soon get used to what you've got.

Oooo no am used to it....just think your style is more pleasing to the eye

I'm also guessing the wheel with be the same? std DSG no buttons or paddles - adding paddles is just a no no

Knew I should have go one with full DSG and paddles :(

....I think we may be going round in circles here. You can change the steering wheel to one with paddles. It's just the floor gearstick which is advisable not to.

FFS, do a Search!  :rolleye:

@ Johnny_tro:

If you can't find info via a Search, I suggest starting a new thread specifically asking about swopping a steering wheel to one with paddle shifters. I know there's discussions on this site about it but I'm not feeling like wet nursing folks today by searching for you.

:happy2:

Ok - so it's basically an automaitic with padels - but the auto box will always kick it esp when you floor it?

DO ALL DSG boxes have padels? even the diesels?

1) No, it is not an automatic box. There is no torque convertor. It is an automated manual gearbox.

2) It is not possible to go from the normal side-button to the GTI-style trigger.

The early cars equipped with DSG didn't have paddles. I guess that VW were only thinking 'automatic' :stupid:

The latest DSG's are 7-speed and dry as opposed to 6-speed and wet, and Audi's version is exactly the same but called 'S-tronic'.

Personally, I don't know of anyone who has had DSG clutches fail unless their car is highly modified with too much torque.

My car is about as early as it gets, and it has paddles...
