My "No bags" pic is a bit tongue in cheek - Air has its place on big luxury barges, slow n steady or pimp Yank rides.. but on a hot hatch/sports car etc. I just don't get it.
People are spending thousands of pounds just to be able to go up and down and in the process making the car handle like a cathedral - to me that's just so anti what this car was intended to be.
Furthermore, the only reason they do it is to be "scene" and basically say "look at me everyone, I've spent £xxxx's on air-ride", they don't get any other benefit out of it... but it's their car and their money, so crack on and enjoy it.
This has always gone on, I remember my Dad building stonking big motor'd bugs to the DKP Cal Look letter in the 80's, because that's all he was interested in - then everything exploded with the show ponies that arrived on a trailer and never got driven more than 15 yards. All running detailed 1200s and more shiney additions & mirrors than Liberace's bathroom. Everyone scratched their heads... what do you mean you don't drive it, you just built it to be looked at? Bug Jam turned from a drag race meet to a dressage overnight. I was just a kid, but it dyed into me what I feel now.
I love good looking cars, but sacrificing the enjoyment of being able to drive it purely for looks isn't my particular bag.
Stretch is another matter, if you're just cruising about slowly or rolling around shows then fill yer boots, it can actually look quite nice if not done to the extreme. Using them on the road 24/7 is a bit selfish though - I don't know how safe they are/aren't, but if you can't be 100% certain that it is safe, why put yourself and others at risk?
