That's what I have written down.  It could be the settings for my old car though

EDIT: It turns out they probably are as I have just done a search and found an old post of mine with the current settings on.  Have edited my first post in this thread to avoid any confusion.

B6 T3 F9
Why would you reduce timing to 3? What effect does it have on the car? And in terms of power?
Not criticising - just trying to understand.

I can't get my head around timing. When/why should you increase/decrease it?

Timing is usually increased/decreased depending on the what octane  fuel you're running. So if you run 95 ron supermarket fuel it wants to be lower than it would if you were running 99 ron V Power. Then there's your octane booster and race fuel which can allow you to up it further..
In a nutshell, the higher the timing the more power can be achieved..

So if you always run V-power, you should increase the timing? At what point does it become too much and hence detrimental to the car?

That's when VAGCOM is needed mate. Every car responds differently so it's hard to give a definate answer. I wouldn't go over 5 on V Power without doing logs on your CFs..

Currently I am running B7T6F7.

I found on my car with the standard HPFP I could not run more than B6 without seeing a large difference between requested and actual rail pressure. See here for more info:
http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,14350.0.html

With the colder weather coming in I am now able to run T6, this is also helped by the fact that I am able to run a richer AFR - F7.  During the summer months I was running T5.  You my find with the ED30 that you will not be able to get higher than T5 without an uprated intercooler.

With regards to boost I have chosen to keep it at 7 mainly to try and presever my clutch    I can easily go higher than 7 with the uprated HPFP but for now would prefer not too.  I have also found from looking at MAF numbers that boost number does not make that much difference to how much power the car makes at the red line.  Setting boost to a higher level gives you more of a mid range kick (more torque) which is always nice  :happy2:.  Good ignition timing advance will make the difference to your top end power.

According to the instructions the default Performance Mode is B6T2F9 - I guess this is aimed at lower octane fuels...

What would you suggest for 97RON (no 99 near me!)? B6T4F9?

Yes possibly..... But the engine will keep its self in trim anyway so 4 shouldnt cause any issues. I think my CF went up to about 5 on the rolling road which is within safe levels!

Where do you live... Someone close should have VCDS

CF - correction factor. The amount of retardation to avoid knocking ( I think)

Revo tech support recommend B6T2F9 for 95 ron and B6T4F9 for 98 ron. I have mine on B6T5F9 for V Power. Not done any logging but it feels about right and has a fairly smooth curve. Below are the graphs from a recent run on JKM's rollers. Mine's a standard GTI on stage 1 not an Eddy. The figures are nowhere near what Revo claim but I didn't expect they would be. Maybe if it was put on a more generous (less accurate) set of rollers it would make 255
