Which breakdown cover?

Hi peeps,....... Looking into geting some breakdown cover, could anyone recommend which cover is best please from experience , RAC, AA, Greenflag...???

Im doing alot of country miles and the car is over 3 years old now and you never know what could happen!, wanting complete cover really, not just home start.

RAC for me. I think Green Flag will just send ''any local'' garage some times & as far as i know RAC & AA just use there own work force.Don't fancy the idea of being miles from home & any old tom dick or harry turning out.

i went for Vw assistance break down..which are vw trained if they can't make it they send the rac

I've used RAC for years. I had an Alfa for ages so I broke down a couple of times 

They were always fast, courteous and helpful.

It's the RAC for me - been a member for nearly 20 years.  I had reason to call them out many years ago when I broke down right outside Harrods - mega    !!  They sent an independant operative out who was just a nightmare.  Following a complaint they ditched the services of that particular garage but other than that I've had no problems with them.  I even negotiated cheaper membership with them this year.  Was getting fed up paying full whack year on year whilst new members were getting excellent deals.  My company van is covered by the AA and they've always excellent when I've called them out.

Do some research into ADAC, it is a German organisation, who get very very good reports and use RAC in the UK.  They are considerably cheaper too.

I have RAC cover purchased using my Tesco clubcard point.

And they always ask if I would prefer a VW specialist from their team. I've had nothing but good experiences with them.



^ Around 7:00am one Saturday morning on my way to Castle Combe.. Stopped for V-Power.. Wouldn't restart.. VW Assist arrived in 45 minutes.. Coilpack needed.. GTI one not onboard but only Mk5 Golf coilpack.. He phoned a VW Assist mate who was on his day off.. He went to collect a GTI coilpack from his home, getting him out of bed much to his wife's amusement.. Returned and fixed my car.

RAC are a bunch of arses, in my opion of course. been with them for 15 years and the first time i call them, they are arses !
I would join AA or somebody else.

i get green flag free through my bank account, so i use them, have never had to use them, touch wood :)

- Emailing card details is not especially secure.

- Arranging a foreign bank transfer will cost at least an extra £20.

The first and only time I've called out the RAC, they responded quickly, diagnosed the problem and took my car to the nearest dealers. Then, without me having to ask, the chap helped lift our shopping from the car, dropped us off at our doorstep and helped carry the bags to the door. Even called up the centre to find out where exactly I could pick up my rental car from on Monday.
