Exhaust indicator light MK V GTI

Exhaust indicator light came on at the weekend guys. Can anyone offer some advice. I've another thread running looking for a decent VW indi garage as it will need to be sorted however just wondering if anyone can advise what the usual causes are and if I shouldn't be using the car at all till sorted.

Hi, mine came on when a coil pack was on it's way out, why that would induce the exhaust light I have no idea. How has your engine been running mine was stuttering to begin with.

sods law... took it to the garage showed him the light, no worries I'll scan it and get back to you. he dropped me off at the tube in my car so he could see how the engine was and low and behold as soon as he turned the ignition the light went out and has never come back on... I can only think it was a batch of poor petrol...

my problem now is the turbo not kicking in... or if it is defo loss of boost.... he's having a look at it at the weekend...

Quick update guys... Took her back to my local indi garage but wasnt something he could help with so in to VW she went... £29 for a diagnostic leading to a loose air intake hose... they fixed it back no further charge, light and error is clear and she is running sweet happy2
