Wheels rubbing on inner arch
« on: November 12, 2010, 10:20:30 pm »
Hi there,as the title says my wheels/tyres are rubbing on the inner plastic arches, the wheels I have on the car are 8x18.
I've heard a few folk on this forum talking about taking the screw away, the one that is on the edge if the arch/wing and was wondering if anyone could help me on how to do it,whenever I have more than one person in the car it rubs goin round roundabouts, speedbumps etc!it has coilovers(kw v1) and there's still a gap between the tyres and arch so it's not mega low.
If anyone could help it would be much appreciated because I can't stand it any longer!
Thanks,tony

First off what is the offset of the wheel you are talking about.   The arch mod is quite simple. I would get the car on axle stands and take the wheel off. Then if you get your head in their, and look at your inner wing you will see your liner and a couple of screws holding it on. If you take the top screw out, you can see a small tab in which it was screwed too. Its best to warm this up and ease it back towards the wing gently, being careful not to crack the paint. once you have pushed it back a bit the liner can then be pushed on top of it, basically pushing the liner in towards the wing and up a bit. Saying this if you have a dodgy offset size wheel, this little mod might not be enough to stop rubbing.  :happy2:

That offset should be fine really. You must have some heavy friends . The screw mod should fix your rubbing then pal.  :happy2:

The same thing has happened on mine, lowered it last week and then went on a spirited drive Saturday and it rubs. I'm also running ch's so i need to remove the screw. It's not a big job and wont take you long.

same has happened to me as well and im on the 17" monzas with a slight gap between front wheel. had my eibach pro streets all the way down and have had to raise them about 10 threads on the damper.

not sure whats its like with you guys but the thing i found wierd was it rubs up to about half lock but not on full lock
