loads of people in my local VW club in Oxfod use them for there older dubs as they tend to want custom stuff and no complaints

if you don't want the lower bit cut why don't you by a GTI or TSI section from VW

A new lower bumper is £60 from vw but longlife told me they do loads of these and just cut the bumper and not to waste my money

Its not normally just a cut, the OEM parts with visible exhausts have a plastic moulding that goes back 2-3 inch's providing a cup around the top of the pipes, might look ok just cut out but might look a little bit un-finished.  Suppose it depends on how much you want to spend, you can always get the new bumper after they have cut (as long as they exit the pipes in the same position)

Can you not just get a 170TDI back box and fit that?

You dont even need a 170 tdi rear box, you could use a gti or ed30 if you wanted.

But if your going to buy one new from VW you may aswell get a stainless one made up!!! I think the OEM rear box is about £200 all in but not 100% sure.

I was gonna go down the stainless route myself on my 140 until I purchased a ed30 rear box off a nice young lady from here! Youll find loads of low mileage gti boxes on the bay as alot get upgraded to millys ect.

But I am going for an OEM gti rear valance though, £50 all in from VW.
