my thoughts are they are bloody expensive, but i guess should be better than the rest so it depends on your budget but i would have thought the mid range nankang type ones would suffice

Can't comment on the Contis - I did look at them but they were far too expensive. Personally I found it difficult to justify spending so much when I've never used Winter tyres before and so it was clear that even a Budget brand would show a huge improvement over Summer tyres.

In the event I went for Avon tyres from myTyres - which came in at £450 for 4, including a fitting voucher. The tyres arrived within 3 days of order and were fitted very professionally last week by Alterstart garage in Watford. The latter are not a tyre specialist but did a very careful and thorough job.

Having road tested them in the snow I can report they are hugely better than the Eagles in this weather. They're on my wife's car and she will only do 2,500 miles on them from now until the end of March - Contis will probably last longer but at that mileage it's pretty irrelevant; they should still last for 5 Winters.

sounds like a good price so maybe depends on you daily mileage? if you are covering a lot of ground prob worth it. if you only doing 6 miles a day like me defo not.

I have these on the rear of my BMW and they are brilliant. I dont have anything to compare them too as this is the first year I have used winter tyres but I am driving around in about 6inches of snow as if in the dry  :happy2:
