private reg plates
« on: December 16, 2010, 10:10:18 pm »
Hi all
I have treated myself to a private plate and cant decide if to play with the spacings or not.

The plate is D11 DSN
What i want is D11DS N (my initial is N and nickname DUDS)

Any of you played around with plates?
I suppose the question is.............. has anybody been fined for doing similar?
Cheers

You can be pulled over for illegal plates. Certainly there've been stories of members being pulled over/fined.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Mine plate is spaced correctly so it doesnt bother me.

I have been notified that its a 3 strikes and your out rule, ie on the 3rd time of being told to change the plates to correctly spaced ones, the plate can be seized and removed from the vehicle and you loose rights to it.

Sometime its just not worth it.

I got a £30 fixed penalty for incorrect spacing. The number is RR05 NER but I had it R R05NER which was taking the piss a bit. I now have it with no spacing RR05NER.

I think it better to just have a legal plate, and never give the police a reason to have a go at you, which will in turn mean you moaning at us lot about the police.
As long as you know its a private plate then no need for the poor spacing to make it into something else.
