Best way mate is to grip the bulb holder NOT THE WIRES as close to the back of the headlight & pull/rock the holder & it will come out. The black filter holder at the rear of the headlight can be removed from it's holder to give a bit more room. :happy2:

Brute force. You'll get scraped skin and blood in return! As above, pull on the bulb, not the wires.

Changed mine last wk, absolute pain in the arse and it was freezing. Hope you've small hands. You'll have plenty of skinned fingers and I also noticed you develope terrets when fitting them :). I'd  say if you have a long nose pliers it will make things a bit easier on the passenger side. Drivers side is handy enough to get out. What kind of side lights you fitting? I stuck in philips blue vision, nice and white, compared to stock. Thought they would have given off I little bit more light though.

If you twist at the same time as you pull it should make it a little easier.

Hey guys, as I'm going to be fitting my "new" black GTI style headlights over Christmas (from my chrome ones), I was thinking of doing a small mod before hand, as I've also lost the will to live in the past changing sidelight bulbs.

I bought some serious plastic glue the other day, so was thinking of gluing the thin part of a nylon tie wrap to either side of the plastic side light bulb holder, to create a loop that you can then put your finger in and pull. What do you think?

The question is: Will it hold? No point doing this if whenthe time comes, the loop breaks/detaches from the bulb.

Yeah, I get that Stealth. the glue I'm referring to is plastic bond. I used some the other day and did a test. Glued 2 pieces of plastic together, let it dry for 24 hours, then tried to break them apart. The plastic snapped at a different point, but the glued joint was perfectly intact, so I think it would hold.

Think I'm gonna give it a try and see.

If u swapped the side light bulbs every day Norbeck, then maybe. Otherwise would be a waste of time IMO.

Furthermore. They are easier to take out once they have been done once  :happy2:

Just prepare your list of expletives, grit your teeth and get your fist in there!

And the car.
GTI going...

I changed my night breakers & matching sidelight bulbs back to the orginal ones yesterday ready to go in the new ed30 i'm collecting & it easier the more times you do it.
Must admit the night breakers do light the road much better than the standard crap really noticed it on the drive in to work last night.

I have the night breakers on my dip and I keep thinking there is a car coming around the corner on my country roads they are so much better. Now once I loose the 8 inches of snow I will be able to do the main beam :sad1:
Went in for a Landy came out with a GTI, mid life crysis? me :-)
