Hi guys - I've tried following the instructions on this post to the best of my ability but with no luck :-(

So far I've tried using Verbatim and Memorex discs, burning the NRG file using as a Live File System format and as a Mastered format at the automatic speed and at the lowest speed option x10.... however when I come to install the new firmware in my system the discs appear to be "loaded" successfully but the nothing happens... ie the disc just sits in the system but nothing more.

Do I need to have the multiplayer empty.... have the system on a certain function e.g. set-up.... or have I missed something obvious?

Have you tried rebooting the system using < > and i buttons? Kind of like Ctrl-Alt-Del for the RNS510!

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Just tried that reboot idea now but it still isn't appearing to recognise any of the discs I have produced... not even giving me an error message :-(

Your burning the file wrong.

You create a disc from the NRG file. To ensure it burns correctly right click the NRG file select open with and choose your burning program. Then just burn it at the slowest speed and ensure you verify the disc.

It should then work fine.  :happy2:

AAAAGRRHH....

It was all looking good until 42% complete... and then diaster... the it got as far as 2% updated on the HDD and the screen went black and the CD was ejected.... tried this 3 times and got that far each time.... now I have a knackered system which is unuseable and no means to fix it... any ideas?

Is it possible to have an RNS 510 without an HDD?  I have checked in the past and it's capacity read 0GB used and 0GB available....

Any help from anyone please :scared:

Erm it should show a capacity of X used of about 20gb as 10gb is reserved for the mapping.

I would think that the HDD is corrupt as I'm not sure the device can run without it.

Oh bugger... it was odd as the system worked fine (except for a small glitch when changing in CD in the multi changer and it stuck on "CD/DVD loading please wait")....

The HDD capacity showed as 0 before I tried upgrading the firmware...

I do have it booked in at the VW stealers tomorrow... should I just leave it?

Unless you know how to strip it and are confident in your ability to do so then yes let them look at it.
