Go Outdoors
« on: January 17, 2011, 07:31:29 am »
Thought I'd share this with ya.

Looking for a new pair of shoes fancied merrell chameleon gtx xcr.

Go Outdoors have them at £96.30 with massive promotional material on their website and their stores at show us the same item priced cheaper elsewhere and we will beat it by ten percent.

So, I pick up the shoe box and head to checkout having found the same shoes on Milletts for £89.99. I fully expect them to say "yes sir, no problem that'll be (circa) £81". Instead I get a "No can do sir" as the ones in millets are a different shade to ours. I point out that millets web page as their OWN web site shows the same library stock picture. They just repeat the ones they have in store are olive green but the ones in millets are clearly brown. Again I say millets only sell the green type, the brown shade is last years model.

No movement. Barstewards.

So, undeterred I find the same shoe on field and trek...£60 and just order them :-))

Now I might just for bloody mindedness go back to that store and make cough up because the field and trek web page shows the olive green shoes exactly as the ones in go outdoors.

I'm not sure I have the time for all that crapola but just hate promotions that these companies do not stand by. Where's Anne Robinson when you need her.

So they wouldn't price match on a product that is clearly different? What's your point?

.... x 2

I don't see why they should be obliged to price match - Do they advertise that they will price match?

Get the shoes in the colour you really want, enjoy them, and move on - You'll feel much happier.

I may be confused but he does state that GO advertise a price match and a 10% offer too, i also think he means the shoes where the same colour as he wanted , and both stores where stocking the same ?, as i said i may be confused though, anyway to the OP be happy GO saved you £30 in the end  :happy2:

Wrong!  :booty:

They wouldnt price match a product that was exactly THE SAME.

Go outdoors have a product that is olive green.
Millets have a product that is olive green.

Milletts web site, have last years model pictured as a stock library item. If however you go to Milletts you can ONLY buy the olive green shoe brown does not exist.

They are denying price guarantee due to the fact that their store has olive green shoes whilst the IMAGE that Milletts and most every where else (including their OWN web site!) has this 2010 product image.

However as below, they would be hard pressed to deny the one below.... I just ordered from them anyway.

Ok hands up... I WAS having a bit of a grump...and to be fair that place has some reasonable prices in the main and lets hope they break the ridiculous pricing on quality outdoor gear in the UK. ....Tiso and Costwold for example  :surprised:

I wouldn't buy from Go Outdoors because of their annoying shouty adverts.

Come to think of it, I wouldn't buy the Merrell shoes either. They're crap!

I love this place.

Actually I have had a pair in the past, and they, together with Salomon are very good IMO but hey I am not orienteering, mountain climbing or doing anything physical in them. Great for getting from one pub to the next.

Can I remove a thread or do I need the Mods to do it. I think for everyones sanity its best it goes.

and  :sad1: its  :sad1: all  :sad1: my  :sad1: fault

....But Joe, you could say that about most of the threads you read on internet forums

[Thinks to self: How does over 35,000 internet forum posts translate into time wasted?.....  Best to stop thinking!]

....No, you have entertained us (except perhaps Joe)  :drinking: and given VC the opportunity to post his wit.

Plus you sound as if you now feel better for getting it off your chest  :happy2:

You can lock it but really, it'll just naturally fade away.

Nah...I will lock it. Dont like attacks on my general fartiness and impeccable taste in gear lol .....

But you are correct, it was good therapy whilst it lasted.
